Weekend mornings are special- they demand that you slow down and make something decadent and delicious. This baked french toast is EASY. No need for any griddles or frying pans – YAY. Its also great for a crowd and it can be prepped the night before as well. Can’t get easier than that!
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup coarsely chopped pecans, if desired, divided
- 14-16 oz brioche loaf, sliced 1 inch thick
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup half and half
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- Pour melted butter in a 9×13 baking dish
- Sprinkle melted butter evenly with brown sugar, cinnamon and 1/6 cup pecans (if desired )
- Arrange bread as shown, overlapping slightly
- Whisk eggs, milk half and half, vanilla and salt in a medium bowl
- Pour mixture on bread, sprinkle with the reserved pecans
- Cover with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to overnight
- Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until golden brown
- Serve with fresh berries, powdered sugar and maple syrup
